I captured my funny technology story using a screencast with pictures from my classroom. I love teaching hands-on science and students really enjoy observing organisms up close using our document camera. One day while observing an animal from our aquatic habitat up close and under magnification we had an attempted escape... please see the video below :).

Favorite Technology Device
It's very hard to choose a single technology device, but my favorite is my laptop with an Internet connection because it allows me to integrate technology with my whole class lessons.
I use my laptop to project SMART software lessons, show video clips, and use PowerPoint for interactive presentations. Having Internet access allows me to integrate technology seamlessly during lessons using links. Over the summer I created a class website using Weebly for Education. I have found this an invaluable tool for posting links to websites, sharing information with students, and having a central location for all of my favorite resources. I am looking forward this year to adding audio, pictures, and a blog to my class website that students can use.
I also really like using Weebly because I can create accounts for my 4th graders within my own so students can work collaboratively to build their own website. As part of the publishing process for my student's research projects I would like to have them create a webpage to share with the class.

CEP 812 Introduction
My name is Jennifer Blacker and I am currently a fourth grade teacher in southwestern MI (Stevensville). I teach all subjects (6) in my current position. I love the collaboration among our staff members and the 'family' community throughout our school.
My current educational passions include using blogs for facilitating book club discussions, helping students create websites to showcase the results of their research projects, and using enrichment websites to help students develop deeper understanding of topics.
I am limited by one computer in my classroom, but on the lookout for creative ways to use it on a daily basis with students. Below are some photos from my classroom including the technology setup in the front of my room, our recent field trip to the state capitol, and our class library.
